End each quarter with an understanding of each work, whether or not written for or arranged for flute choir. Be able to explain different styles and requirements of each period and the techniques required to perform these successfully.

Leave the quarter with a better understanding of how the fundamentals of flute playing (long tones, scales and arpeggios, etc.) apply to the work you are doing in the flute ensemble, and how important regular and diligent individual practice is even if you don't have a lot of practice time.

Be able to accept whatever constructive criticism you might get from the Director in rehearsals and apply it to making yourself a better musician, and to map this practice onto every other area of academic study.
