OSPSANTG 49. Chile - Another "End of the World"?. 3-5 Units.

Introduction to the identity of Chilean culture and the Chilean nation (within South America) from an unusual perspective. Focus on the history and the multiple dimensions of the still very popular Chilean self-perception as "the country of the end of the world," the country characterized by the extreme geographical shape between the Southern Pacific and the mountain range of the Andes. This motif is connected both to a tradition of cultural self-perception in the Christian Middle Ages and to a recent methodological "turn" in the Humanities, a turn that explores, for the first time, the relationship between space and cultural identity.
